The Norwegian land based salmon farming company Salmon Evolution has chalked up another profitable quarter. It reported Q2 (April to June) revenues of NOK 170.5m (£12.3m) and a group EBITDA or operating profit of NOK 45.4m (£3.2m).

Alf-Helge Aarskog, a former CEO of global salmon giant Mowi, has joined the board of Smir Group. Smir specialises in sea lice treatment, waterborne feeding and cage systems. Aarskog has extensive experience in the seafood industry. He was CEO at Lerøy Seafood Group, another major Norwegian salmon producer, before taking charge at Mowi for around a decade.

Norway’s Coast Seafood has reported a 30% increase in revenue for last year, but interest rate rises meant pre-tax profits fell. Coast purchased the fresh and frozen business Danish Vega Salmon in January 2023 which has an annual production turnover of around 25,000 tonnes of salmon and this acquisition was the main reason for the surge in turnover.
