Two leading conferences in the international seaweed sector are merging to become one global event.
DLG Benelux, the organizer of the Seagriculture conferences, has announced the merger of Seagriculture USA and Seagriculture Asia-Pacific into a single, global conference called Seagriculture World. This strategic move, DLG said, reflects the organisation’s aim to simplify the seaweed industry’s event calendar, strengthen global collaboration, and support innovation around the world.
By merging two popular conferences into a single international event, DLG Benelux can expand into new regions and respond more quickly to emerging market trends. This new approach also reflects industry feedback, emphasizing the need for more streamlined and impactful events.
Seagriculture World will take place every year in a different country. The conference will retain its successful format:
Kuno Jacobs, Managing Director, DLG Benelux, said: “Our goal is to ensure that seaweed industry leaders have the opportunity to come together in a meaningful way. By creating Seagriculture World, we can explore new regions, highlight emerging developments, and collectively push the industry forward.”
DLG Benelux will announce the location and dates of the inaugural Seagriculture World conference shortly.
The Seagriculture conferences have grown into one of the leading global platforms for the seaweed industry, attracting over 500 stakeholders annually. Participants include farmers, processors, distributors, buyers, equipment suppliers, investors, researchers, and policymakers.
While Seagriculture USA and Seagriculture Asia-Pacific will merge into this global platform, the Seagriculture EU conference, established in 2012, will continue as an annual event. This decision, the organisers say, reflects the strong foundation and longstanding community that Seagriculture EU has built over more than a decade. As the original Seagriculture event, it has become a trusted and recognised forum for the European seaweed sector, offering continuity and a familiar platform for stakeholders across the region and beyond.
DLG Benelux said this dual structure – Seagriculture World for global collaboration and Seagriculture EU for regional focus – enables the company to support the seaweed industry at multiple levels, ensuring that both global and local priorities are addressed in a balanced and strategic way.
The next edition of Seagriculture EU takes place over 17-19 June in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. More information on the EU conference can be found on www.seagriculture.eu
