The decision to drop World Aquaculture 2025 was taken by China Society Fisheries (CSF). It had been scheduled for 24-27 April. No reason was given in the announcement although it was described as a “difficult decision”.

In response, the World Aquaculture Society (WAS) is moving the event to India, as “World Aquaculture INDIA”. This will take place from November 10-13, 2025, in the city of Hyderabad.

WAS said: “This relocation allows us to continue providing an exceptional experience for our attendees. Despite the challenges posed by this change, we are committed to offering and ensuring a successful event and are excited about the opportunities in this new location presents.

“We believe it is a positive development, and it is the right time to return to India after our first successful experience.”

World Aquaculture 2025 INDIA will take place at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre – Novotel over November 10-13, 2025.

This, WAS said, marks the return of World Aquaculture to India after the successful Asian Pacific Aquaculture 2019 (APA19) event in Chennai.

The WAS statement continued: “With aquaculture continuing to grow rapidly in the Asian-Pacific region and particularly in India, the 2025 event is the perfect time for the World Aquaculture community to focus on India again at Hyderabad.

“Hyderabad plays an important role in India’s maritime development with its advanced marine economy, robust marine industry and strong foundation in marine fishery, marine equipment manufacturing, and marine transportation.

“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to our attendees, partners, researchers, exhibitors and supporters, and we thank you for your understanding and continued support. Additional information regarding the new event details, including the updated event and venue, will be posted on our website soon.

Abstracts previously submitted to WA2025 China will continue to be processed by the Program Committee and all registrations will continue to be valid, WAS said. The abstract submission deadline has been extended to August 31, 2025. For the Exhibition, organisations that have already booked a booth and would like to keep it while exploring the new location, will be sent an updated manual and all other relevant information.
