One of India’s leading aquaculture experts has been confirmed as a plenary session speaker for World Aquaculture India 2025 this November.
Dr Subbanna Ayyappan, former Deputy Director General of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and Secretary to India’s Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE), will be the plenary speaker at this international event. With extensive experience in aquatic research and sustainable aquaculture, he has significantly influenced aquaculture policies and initiatives in India and globally. His expertise in fisheries management will be a key highlight of the event.
Professor Ayyappan, with a Master’s Degree in Fisheries Science, has a Ph.D. in Aquatic
Microbiology and his specific areas of research are fisheries, freshwater aquaculture and aquatic microbiology.
He has been conferred a D.Sc. (honoris causa) by 15 universities and is a recipient of several awards including Padma Shri 2022 – conferred by the Indian government for "distinguished contribution in various spheres of activity including the arts, education, industry, literature, science, acting, medicine, social service and public affairs" and Karnataka Rajyotsava Award by the state of Karnataka in 2013.
World Aquaculture India 2025 (WA25) is a premier event of the World Aquaculture Society, bringing together industry experts, researchers, and stakeholders from around the world to discuss the latest trends and innovations in aquaculture.
The event is focused on sustainability, technological advances, and the future of fish farming, and will feature keynote speeches, panel discussions, workshops, and networking opportunities.
World Aquaculture India 2025 is set to take place on November 10-13, 2025, at the Hyderabad International Convention Center – Novotel.
