Proximar Seafood has appointed a new managing director at its Japanese subsidiary.
Yoshihito Ito will head up Proximar Ltd, the company that runs the group’s land-based salmon farm near Mount Fuji. He will take the position with immediate effect.
Yoshihito Ito brings extensive senior management experience and has for the last 24 years been working for Nutreco and the sustainable aquafeed company Skretting.
Skretting has a strategic partnership with Proximar, and since the start of the Mount Fuji project, Skretting’s global team has closely collaborated with the RAS team in Skretting Japan, with its fish quality service team .
It has also joined forces to provide comprehensive quality monitoring services. The recent first harvest represents an operational achievement for both Skretting and Proximar.
Since 2010, Ito has held the position as General Manager of Skretting Japan, and since 2021 also as General Manager of Nutreco Japan.

Prior to working at Skretting, Ito worked for Nippon Roche KK and was a member of the global aquaculture expert team in the Roche Group. He holds a Master of Science in Fisheries from Kagoshima University in Japan.
Proxima is the first company to produce Atlantic salmon in Japan. Its brand, Fuji Atlantic Salmon was launched in October.
