The Norwegian Seafood Council has appointed a new envoy to the UK. He is Bjørn-Erik Stabell, who currently holds the role of Strategy and Sustainability Manager, and is Key Account Manager for whitefish at the Council.
Stabell has held several roles in the Norwegian Seafood Council, including previously serving as a seafood envoy to Spain. He is now looking forward to joining the Norwegian Seafood Council’s operation in the UK on 1 September.
Stabell said: “The UK is a very important market for Norwegian seafood. I am looking forward to embarking on such an exciting mission as this. It will be fun to create something together with strong and skilled players in both Norway and the UK.”
He added: “I am following in the footsteps of rock-solid predecessors, who have had a similar role in the last three periods. We can really build on this good foundation from the autumn onwards. However, until I take office, my current role is full steam ahead, with a focus on sustainability and implementing the new strategy for whitefish.”
Stabell takes on the baton from Victoria Braathen, who has led the Seafood Council’s work in the UK with a steady hand since 2022.
The Seafood Council’s Global Operations Director, Børge Grønbech, said: “Victoria has been an outstanding representative of the Norwegian seafood industry during her stay. We thank her for her strong contribution and welcome her back to the Seafood Council’s headquarters.”
