The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved a new antibiotic, PAQFLOR, for use with finfish. PAQFLOR, a broad-spectrum antibiotic in the form of a 50% (500 g/Kg) florfenicol premix, is produced by Phibro Animal Health Corporation (Phibro). It is designed for use with freshwater-reared salmonids, catfish, freshwater-reared finfish and warmwater finfish.

Mike Brown, Vice President of Mineral Nutrition & Aqua, North America, said: “We are excited to further support the US aquaculture industry’s efforts to reach its production and sustainability goals by bringing to market a proven, cost-effective, florfenicol antimicrobial product. We share our customers’ commitment to improving productivity through good health management practices. By bringing PAQFLOR to market Phibro is giving producers more health management options.”

Todd Armstrong, President, North America, said: “Having a new aquaculture product in the US allows Phibro to continue our mission of providing safe and effective solutions for our customers’ unique health challenges.”
