Bio Marine names UK representative
Norwegian aquaculture specialist Bio Marine has appointed experienced fish health expert Chris Mitchell to lead its UK and Irish operations.
The company specialises in the design and production of systems for the management of net pen environments, including lice skirts, deep water lifting technology, environmental management and underwater lighting in cages.
Mitchell said he was delighted to have this opportunity, adding: “We are witnessing sustained and increasing biological challenges arising from ocean warming which are presenting threats to the health and welfare of our marine farms. In addition to submerged lighting, Bio Marine has exciting proprietary water-uplift and net pen skirt technologies which offer mitigation in combatting these challenges.”
He will be operating, initially, on a fixed part-time basis.
Nils Hovden, Export Manager at Bio Marine, said: “We are pleased to welcome Chris to the team, a versatile and experienced industry person, who with his expertise in fish health will be able to spearhead our venture in the British market.”
