Salmon farmer Scottish Sea Farms’ landing craft, the Julie Anne, which sank in the Sound of Mull last month without warning, has been safely raised.

There is still no explanation as to why the vessel sank, but experts hope to find more clues now that it has been recovered.

MSP visits Cooke site in Shetland

Emma Roddick MSP represents the Highlands and Islands in the Scottish Parliament, and she is a member of the Rural Affairs and Islands Committee (RAIC), which is currently part way through a follow-up inquiry into the Scottish salmon farming sector.

Seafood Scotland event strengthens links with Japan

Japan’s Consul General in Edinburgh has formally opened Seafood Scotland’s new office in Ingliston, ahead of a major trade event in Japan later this month. Seafood Scotland, the national trade and marketing body for Scottish seafood, will be co-hosting a delegation of eight Scottish seafood companies at the Japan International Seafood & Technology Expo.

Lerøy Midt told to take new action after fish escapes

The Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries has ordered the company Lerøy Midt Sjø AS to monitor and remove farmed salmon from waterways, following escape incidents at Hitra and in the Tingvollfjord earlier this year. A total of 21 watercourses in Trøndelag and eight in Møre og Romsdal are covered by the orders.
