Loch Duart up for export prize
SCOTTISH salmon farmer Loch Duart has been shortlisted as Exporter of the Year in the 2019 Insider Made in Scotland Awards.
The independent Scottish business, which farms in Sutherland and the Uists, has seen export sales increase by 68 per cent over the last two financial years to an all-time high for the business.
Loch Duart managing director Alban Denton said: ‘Loch Duart is proud to be shortlisted as Exporter of the Year for the Insider Made in Scotland Awards, especially as we celebrate our twentieth year of farming salmon.
‘It’s a chance to reflect on how we’ve grown in both scale and reputation, with around 70 per cent of our salmon being exported to over 20 countries.
‘Our foreign customers love Loch Duart salmon and are particularly keen on the quality, exclusivity and provenance of the brand.
‘We look forward to the awards and celebrating Scotland’s amazing business success stories.’
Loch Duart has recently invested more than three quarters of a million pounds in fish health and welfare, and over £3 million on boats, feeding equipment and other marine assets.
The Scottish Business Insider Awards, in conjunction with the University of Strathclyde\’s Advanced Forming Research Centre, are now in their fourth year and celebrate inspiring businesses that innovate, invent, design and manufacture products in Scotland.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony, hosted by Fred MacAuley, on Thursday, May 9, at the Glasgow Science Centre.
