The chief executives of feed giant Nutreco and its aquaculture business, Skretting, have both announced they will be stepping down.

Nutreco CEO Fulco van Lede (pictured, right), will be leaving this summer after leading the company for the past three years. In addition, Therese Log Bergjord (pictured, left), CEO of Skretting for the past seven years, will also be leaving in the summer.

With effect from June 1, 2024, David Blakemore, CEO of Trouw Nutrition, the company’s livestock feed business line, and member of Nutreco’s Management Board will succeed van Lede as CEO.

Bergjord’s successor at Skretting will be Bastiaan van Tilburg, currently Managing Director for Trouw Nutrition Europe and Central Asia.

Nutreco has stressed that in both cases it has been the individuals’ decision to move on.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Nutreco, and my many years as part of the SHV team, and I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together,” said van Lede. “It’s been a privilege to work alongside Nutreco’s passionate team as we tackle the challenge of sustainably feeding an ever-growing population. Yet, after 20 years at SHV, with the last 10 working at Board level, it is time for me to broaden my horizon.”

SHV CEO Jeroen Drost commented, “We respect Fulco’s decision to step down and want to thank him for all his contributions to Nutreco and the wider SHV Family of Companies over the years and wish him all the best in the future. David’s experience in the industry and knowledge of the company makes him an excellent successor and the right leader to take the company forward to its next phase of growth.”

Van Lede paid tribute to Therese Log Bergjord, CEO of Skretting, saying: ”I want to thank Therese for her tremendous contributions to the company in the seven years during which she led Skretting. She leaves behind a strong team and a business well positioned to remain at the forefront of sustainable aquaculture.”

She commented: “I’ve enjoyed every minute of my time at Skretting and as part of the Nutreco leadership team. We’ve achieved so much and I will continue to champion sustainable aquaculture even as I move onto my next opportunity.”

She has indicated that her departure is not “retirement” and she looks forward to playing an active role in the industry.

At Trouw Nutrition, David Blakemore will be succeeded by Eduardo Lopes Alberto who joined Nutreco in January 2024 as Vice President, Global Innovation for Trouw.
