Covid-19 puts Aquanor format in question again

The format of one of the aquaculture industry’s leading trade events remains in the balance, following the announcement by the organisers of Aquanor that a decision will be made on 18 May as to whether it can go ahead as a ‘hybrid’ exhibition. The decision will be based on the Norwegian government’s assessment of the Covid-19 risks.

Aquanor, which is due to take place in Trondheim, Norway over 24-27 August is one of the world’s most important aquaculture trade fairs. Earlier this year the organisers announced that the format this year would be ‘hybrid’, combining in-person and digital elements.

Today, they stated: “The initial plan was to make a final decision on the implementation of the physical part of Aqua Nor 2021 sometime during the latter part of April. Pending the government’s decision, which will be made available by mid-May, we have postponed our decision on the implementation of the physical part of Aqua Nor 2021 until May 18.”

The digital elements of the event will go ahead whatever the decision in May, the organisers said.

The hotel cancellation deadline for those planning to attend has been extended to 20 May.
