Benchmark promotes Seim to new fish health role

Benchmark Genetics has promoted Rudi Ripman Seim to the position of Head of Production Norway & Global Fish Health.
The post is newly established and, Benchmark said, is part of a strategy of strengthening and further developing relationships with the company’s partners in broodstock and egg production, and research and development. Seim will report to Jan-Emil Johannessen, Head of Benchmark Genetics.
Seim, who has been employed in the company since 2012, was previously Head of Fish Health. He has a Masters in Aquamedicine Biology from University of Bergen and a BA in Business Administration from Norwegian School of Economics in Bergen.
He will continue to have the overall responsibility for fish health and welfare in Benchmark Genetics for salmon operations in Norway, Chile, Iceland, tilapia in USA and shrimp in the Americas and Asia. To support him, Benchmark Genetics said it will recruit a new Fish Health Manager, Salmon, located in Bergen.
Seim said: “The eggs that we are supplying are the final product from a long process that demands detailed planning, a high degree of control and close integration between fish health, production, genetics and sales. This is challenging and rewarding, and I am looking forward to taking on this new position.”
