SalMar names Steinvik as new CFO

SalMar has appointed Ulrik Steinvik as the company’s new Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

His predecessor, Gunnar Nielsen, resigned as CFO in September.

It is the second major announcement from SalMar this week. On Monday, Frode Arntsen was named as the company’s new CEO, following the surprise resignation of Linda Aase after just five months in post.

Steinvik, who took up his post as from yesterday, 27 October, has been working with SalMar since 2006, holding several leading positions in the executive management team. Most recently he was Director of Business Improvement.

CEO of SalMar ASA said: “I am pleased that Ulrik Steinvik has accepted the role as SalMar’s new CFO. Ulrik and I have worked closely together in the management group for years, and I look forward to continuing our close cooperation. Ulrik’s extensive experience and expertise will be valuable in the further development of the company.”

Before Steinvik joined SalMar, he worked at Arthur Andersen Norway and Ernst & Young from 1998 to 2006. He graduated from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business in 2002 and is a Norwegian state authorized public accountant.

Steinvik said: “I am excited and honoured to take on the position as CFO of SalMar and I look forward to continue to strengthen SalMar going forward.”

Meanwhile, an extraordinary general meeting of the company’s board held yesterday has agreed to remove the deadline for the merger between SalMar and Norway Royal Salmon ASA, which was thrashed out in principle last year.
