Bakkafrost Scotland wins SCDI’s International Business award
Bakkafrost Scotland has won the award for Excellence in International Business at the prestigious SCDI Highlands and Islands Awards.
This award, from the Scottish Council for Development and Industry, celebrates businesses working in the Highlands and Islands that demonstrate outstanding achievements in the global marketplace, involving a successful export strategy that underpins growth and the ability to innovate, as well as break into new markets.
Bakkafrost Scotland, a Scottish business owned by Faroese fish farmer Bakkafrost, produces around 25,000 tonnes of Scottish salmon a year, and exports to around 26 countries, ranging from North America to the Far East.
The export strategy aims to create long-term partnerships and Bakkafrost works with many specialist retailers, leading chefs, premium restaurants and high-end foodservice customers who are passionate about provenance, traceability, quality and sustainability.
Welcoming the news of the win managing director of Bakkafrost Scotland, Ian Laister said: “We are passionate about our provenance and bringing the finest quality Scottish salmon to overseas markets. People across the globe enjoy our finest quality, sustainably produced Scottish salmon and winning this award recognises our commitment to quality, innovation and export growth.”
