Global GAP Summit set for Warsaw

Doubletree by Hilton Hotel and Conference Centre, Warsaw

Industry leaders from across the agriculture, aquaculture, and floriculture supply chains will be converging on the Global GAP Summit 2024 in Warsaw on on 10–12 September to explore emerging challenges, engage with new technologies, and discuss the future of the industry.

The aim of the Summit is to bring stakeholders from the aquaculture and agriculture sectors together to explore ideas about the future of certification. Given consumer expectations and the increasing importance they attach to the origins and production methods of their food, voluntary certification standards such as those of GLOBAL GAP are crucial to dispelling concerns and communicating the initiatives undertaken by the producers.

The Global GAP Integrated Farm Assurance (IFA) standard for aquaculture focuses on ecological and social responsibility, food safety, and animal welfare. Topics discussed at the Summit will include sustainability, communication with consumers, audits, the added value generated by certification, and supply-chain legislation. Global GAP has expanded IFA for aquaculture – which is available in more than 25 countries – to 35 species of fish, crustaceans, molluscs, and (macro) algae. The Summit will foster an exchange of experiences from a wide range of agricultural actors, benefiting the aquaculture sector.

Aquaculture farms will gain valuable insights from all sessions, the organisers say, while two breakout sessions are aimed specifically at aquaculture.

“This is the event where we bring producers and suppliers together with buyers and certifiers. This is the event to explore the latest smart solutions on the market. This is the event where we can tackle the challenges the industry is facing with a new-found sense of clarity,” remarked Dr Elmé Coetzer-Boersma, Managing Director at GLOBAL GAP c/o FoodPLUS GmbH.

The event will take place at the Doubletree by Hilton Conference Centre, Warsaw on 10–12 September 2024. Tickets and the full programme are available on the official event website.
