STIM is currently looking to identify a highly motivated individual to undertake the role of Aquatic Veterinarian in Scotland.

We seek a positive, driven individual to join our fish health team providing veterinary advisory and diagnostic services to the Scottish Aquaculture industry.

Key Responsibilities include (not exhaustive):

  • Consult with aquaculture producers in a prescribing veterinarian or health advisory capacity, providing the very best advice and support.
  • Undertake site visits to aquaculture producers across Scotland.
  • Carry out diagnostic sampling and follow up, including clinical examination, and biosecurity audits.
  • Work cohesively with veterinary and fish health colleagues across the wider STIM organisation, maximising the value of this to our clients.
  • Manage existing veterinary accounts and establish new accounts, regularly liaising with our customers to build and ensure long lasting relationships.
  • Provide training to customers and undertake project work where required.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Veterinary degree
  • RCVS membership
  • At least two years experience in Aquaculture and/or in Fish Health and Diagnostics.
  • Official Veterinarian qualification, or be open to training as an OV is desirable.

A good working knowledge of the aquaculture industry is essential. Other requirements include excellent communication skills, a positive can-do attitude, as well as excellent interpersonal skills. Good computer literacy is also very important. Furthermore, the ideal candidate must have the ability to meet deadlines and work with good initiative.

The role will involve working independently for periods of time, often in remote locations and in physically demanding conditions where production sites are located.

Applicants should have a full driving license and be prepared to undertake travel as required.
