Mowi’s Salmon Wagon gets ready to roll
Fish farmer Mowi is set to support charities – and provide some tasty food – across Scotland this summer at a series of events with its “Salmon Wagon”.
The food truck will be dispensing salmon fillet burgers and noodle salads at 10 summertime events, from the Western Isles to Rosyth in Fife. As well as promoting Mowi’s product, the Salmon Wagon will be supporting a named charity at each event, with 100% of proceeds going to support that cause.
The programme kicks off on 2 May at Duror in the west Highlands.
Jayne MacKay, Community Engagement Officer at Mowi Scotland said, “We were set to launch the Salmon Wagon in March 2020 just when the pandemic took hold in Scotland so had to cancel all that year’s – and subsequent – events. It’s been a frustrating two years but we are delighted to finally see the striking Mowi Salmon Wagon hit the road.
“I think after what has been an extremely tough time for the country – not to mention the cancellation of countless events that have traditionally raised vital funds for communities – it will be great to get out to these gatherings and show our support for charities across Scotland.”
The 10 charities that will benefit are:
- The Kentallen & Duror Community Centre;
- Mallaig Pool and Leisure;
- EATS Rosyth;
- Lochgilphead School Campus;
- Local charities and schools, Invergarry;
- North Uist Agricultural Society;
- Lochs Agricultural Society;
- Sunart & District Agricultural Society;
- RNLI; and
- Mowi Youth Fund.
